Palmerston Hospital Board.

West, architect, itating that Messrs Dickel and Ijatbian were unable to carry out •ontracb for hospital ceiling. The toatract had been lei; to Mr Griggs at £72. From C. and Wilson (Palmerston North) applying for position of surgeon to the hospital. — Dr Wilson's applica tioQ was accepted. Plans for new works at thp hospital, amounting to about £225, were laid on the table. The Chairman said the works could not be proceeded with until {he legacy of the late Mr Wiltshire had been received. On the motion of Mr Lethbridge, it was decided to call for tenders for the works as the money was received irom the Willshire legacy. At the suggestion of the architect, the main ward was ordered to be painted green. The new works will be : — Wash house, drying room, disinfecting room, portico and front decorations,

oose-box, men's room, store room and wood-shed. Mr Taylor drew attention to the fact that' the cost of maintenance of patients was 85s per week, while thovSe able to pay were Only called upon to give 24s 6d per week. It was wrong that patients in a good financial position should have 9* 6d per week contributed by the Board towards their maintenance. — The matter was deferred for consideration till next meeting* On the motion of Mr Goodbehere, the Secretary was instructed to formulate a scheme for the representation of the various contributing bodies on the Board. Mr Lethbridge, on behalf of the members of the Board, expressed their sympathy with the Chairman in his recent bereavement. — Times.
