The English wheat narket shows a general advance of B^d ; the Continental has an upward tendency) and the American is dull; The improvement ih the ISnglieh wheat market is due to decreased i shipments to Europe. There is a growing impression that the American wheafc crop will not exceed '425,000,000 bushels. At the Wool sales a good selection Was offered, and the bidding waa spirited in all quarters, American firms buying largely. The prices Were unchanged* French representatives operated largely in New Zealand greasy merinos-. The Antwerp 1 sales closed very firm, with prices unchanged. The total quantity catalogued up. to date at the English sales is 261,000 bales, of which 246,000 bales, have been sold. Tallow— Medium mutton, 21s 3d ; beef, 19s 9d. At the sales 1550 casks were offered, of which 800 were sold. Babbit skins of good quality have declined £d, and common Id. The returns of the elections up to date give the following : — Tories and Unionists . . 854 Liberals 11Q Parnellites 7 . Anti-Parnellites . . . . 54 The Times hints that the Government will reorganise the London | County Council. There is fair competition at the wool sales, and prices are maintained. The Americans are buying heavily.
