The Levin-Greatford Railway.
On Tuesday Mr J. G. Wilson went as a deputation, with the representatives of those willing to float a company in London, about the Levin-Greatford railway. The Pre* nrior and Mr Cadman were in't> viewed. Mr Wilson produced a plan of the line and district and explained the position. Mr Hislop represented the London capitalists.
Mr Wilson urged the Government to qive the application their favourable consideration on account of the good such a lino would be to the district, and the convenience to the whole of the public travelling north.
Mv Hislop said that his clients would cot be inclined to pat their money into a concern which the Government were opposed, hull if they would give facilities so that the line could be run in connection with the Government trams on the north and the Manawatu Railway cora« pany's trains on the south, the work would be put in hand at once. The Premier, after the matter had been discussed said it was a big question, but that he personally was against any company making a rail* way in the colony. They had had the experience of the Midland Bail* way, and the District Bail ways of some few years back. He, however, would say nothing definitely then but recommended the deputation to write to the Cabinet when the applU cation wotgld be considered and A reply forwarded.
