SHELTER SHED FOR THE SCHOOL.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE lIANAWATC HERALD
Sir,— lt was quite refreshing to see that at the meeting of the School Committee published in your Thursday's issue, attention was called to the great of a shelter-shed for the boys ; also the wise suggestion that a building should be erected for a gymnasium in tbe school grounds. Sir, you will remember some years ago, before any of the present " City Fathers " held office (excepting Cr. Jenks), the townspeople subscribed amongst tham £7 10s, and handed it over to the old Town Board, to be supplemented by them in tbe erection of a bathing-shedj which was built near the old ferry. It was only used one season, I think. The floods came down and washed away the outposts which indicated the shelf in the river. The shed now stands in the old place as a monument of its passed glory. I would suggest that the School Committee approach the Borough Council, and ask them to hand them over the above old shed, and with a little addition placed in the school ground would make a serviceable shed for the boys. I am, &c, Parent. Foxton, 6th July.
