■» r It is exceedingly gratifying to learn that the Dairy Union has been able ' to see its way to raise the price of milk by a half-penny a gallon. On Saturday morning the suppliers of the local sreamery learnt this agreeable news, and not only that, but the rise would be allowed for the May month, and would be certain for this and the following month. The price is nothing out of the way now, being only 2f d for 3.6 test, but as the suppliers are feeding their cows with other food besides grass they find their tests exceed this point, and were as high as 4.8 and 4.6, and as the sums paid for over the standard test are in proportion many of the suppliers will be getting 3fd a gallon. The change from continual re* ductions to a rise makes a pleasing , difference and has instilled a corresponding energy into the shareholders, ani there appears every prospect of

the local creamery keeping in work all the winter. The rise will also stimulate the settlers to continue the business oi milking and to break up land for the production of winter feed. We congratulate the ' stickers ' to the creamery for their faith in the business knowledge of the directors. We hope that the difficulties, always present at the initiation of any new enterprise, have now beea surmounted.
