By-Elections in England.

The election for Norfolk (Mid) to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr Clement Higgins, Q.C., has taken plaoe. Mr Root. T. Gurdon, the Unionist candidate— whom Mr Higgins (Liberal) defeated at the general election by 470 votes — was returned by a majority of 208 over Mr Wilson, the Liberal candidate. There is considerable excitement over the Warwick and Leamington election, and confusion between the parties continues. No Conservative candidate will be nominated. Many Conservatives attended and caused a disturbance at a meeting which was being addressed by Mr Peel, son of the retiring Speaker. It is probable the Liberal candidate will be elected without opposition.
