The Racing Meeting.
0 On Thursday Mr McMillan will offer for sale by auction the privileges in connection with the Autumn Meeting of the Foxton Racing Club. Intending purchasers have probably noted that all privilege holders did weir at the Summer Meeting. The purchaser of the Outside gates has a " rosy " time of it, as by arrangement with the railway the gate money is added to the price of the excursion ticket and collected by the Department. All he has to do is to attend to those travelling by road, and then to watch his profits by rail. We hope the Grand Stand buyer will keep the luncheon, such a necessary business with Englishmen, up to the usual high standard. The nominations are very good, but the acceptances will not bs known till Thursday evening. We may accept the faot that they are bound to be good. The past rain will have wonderfully improved the course and made it better than it was for the Summer Meeting. We trust to be able to report brisk and spirited bidding on Thursday, as this will be the last event for some months when such opportunities to make " a trifle or too " will be forthcoming.
