A New Thermometer.
A German inventor has devised a Hew kind of thermometer, in which tolulol is to be employed instead of hlercury or alcohol as at, present. The advantages of the substitution are said to bo numerous. In the first place, tolulol is liquid of dark colour, which would render the column more easily seen ; secondly, the freezing point and boiling point of that liquid are far apart ; finally, its price is not so high as that of mercury ; and its manipulation does ttot present any danger to the health of- the w.orkmen »
