As ft rule officers of the Warships have a good ttme where "fever they go, but this tifflttattAa Lent season* so there wet#P!aanoeß or such like amuse* tttewfoing on. A.very successful little eritfertaldmenti was given by a Christy Minstrel troupe irom the " Karrakatta " on Saturday night in the Opera House, It was given in aid of the Convalescent Home and Sailor's Reat. Unfortunately the weather was not as fine as it might have been, so the audience was small, though appreciative.

Sir Charles and Lady Lilley are ton and are staying at the Royal Oak Hotel. They arrived from Sydney yesterday. Winter has certainly began as the weather here has been bitterly cold lately, and pretty winter costumes are beginning to make their appearanoe. Brown and pink are much worn together. Feather and lur bosjrS are going out of fashion, I am sorry to say, as they are very becoming, and always make a nice finish to a costume, being nice and cosy. Evening blouses are to be much worn this winter. There are some lovely ones on view in the shops now. Some plain silks of differen oolonrs and other trimmed with laoe and insertions, some have laoe aoauves which look veiy stylish.
