Reported Forgeries.
For some time past it has been suspected that large numbers of forged tram tickete have been in cir- - dilation, and have been disposed' of . among the general public. Thjj „ spurious tickets were made in eVeiy respect similar to those issued by Mr A. Hall, the lessee of the tramways, even his signature in red ink being imitated with a faithfulness which defied detection. The forgery and sale of the tickets are supposed , to . have been going, on for the past three months, and at length, as suspicion' grew, the matter was placed in the hands of the police. Chief- Detective Campbell has been * at work on the case for some time past. Yesterday afternoon he ar- . rested a young man named William Wooloott, an ex-tram guard, and :^ subsequently, in company with Aot« ing Detective Gantley, arrested two young men named J. F.
