The ordinary moatwgr meeting of J the above was be&ist Levin btf ~ Monday when there were present— Wardens David (in the chair), J. R. Whyte, Gardner, Gower, Kebbell and Wallace. The following correspondence was read :— From Mr T. Lind, applying to rent for grazing purposes, the sections at Shannon acquired from Mr Howe. — Left in the hands 1 of Wardens Gardner and Wallace to arrange. - ■ ; From Mr Jas. Wallace and eleven other ratepayers at Shannon r*» questing the Board to raise a losj^of £200 for re grading, forming aad metalling Nathan Terrace, and form* ing and metalling Bryce street, wbA that a special district be made.— lt was decided to comply with the request. From Mr V. T. Hitching*, re questing the Board to form and metal a portion of Koputuroa road. He was willing to do the work, the . cost to be deducted from his rates,-— f Application granted. I The following tenders were re- j ceived : — ' ; Approaches to Obau Bridge — F. Bassett, £88 103 ; B. Richards, £69 ; Bettaline, £64 3s ; A. Forsyth, £54; W. Owen, £50; W. Lawlor (accepted) £48 ss. Aratangata Road Drain — Webb and King, £2 9s 6d per chain; Nyhan and Sullivan, £1 9s per chain ; A. Bloomfield (accepted) £1 83 per chain. J. J. Smith's tender for printing was accepted. The following resolutions were carried : — That tenders be called for r*. grading and metalling the Backlty
road West, to be addressed to Warden 1 Wallace, Shannon, and that Wardens &ardn& and Wallace be a committee to bfteii and aticept tefaders". . That a special meeting be held at Levin on 20th April, 1895, to make a efjecial, order in reference to the Ibttib for Buckley road. I That the Bank of New Zealand be notified that a further advance of £150 by way of overdraft will not be required after 81st inst., and that the»-£lerk forward to the Bank a feerjfflecT .statement, of the general rafcfl^ooJlected during the current yeaV, the amount being the legal HraiP'df overdraft for the ensuing year.. jfchM; the roadman lower the cujfier't under fcrvois Terrace; Ohau township. $hjM; tenders be called for works On'j&ereru road west, Heatherlca roaa west and Heatherlea road east, That this Board takes exception to, the action of the Horowhenua Ooanty Council in aummarily dischtrging the Shannon roadman wifjiput holding any enquiry as to the.! complaints against, him, and without consulting the Wardens of thefcaard, and that the Clerk write to the said Council conveying this expression of opinion. That the Horowhenua County Council be asked to re-consider their resolution re the recommendation patted by this Board suggesting that the rate of wages of the roadman be lowered to 6s per diem.
