Gorton A; Son's Stock Repoat. Messrs Gorton and Son report on the cattle sale at Feilditig on the Ist ! instant and stock sales at Sandon and Waituna since made up our sales during the past week. At Feilding considerably over 600 head were yarded and we had to resort to the courtesy of Mr Carr for the use of his yards. It was a fairly good sale, about 400 were sold, and chiefly under the hammer* At Sandon our yards were filled with cattle and. fair entries of sheep. The sale was very dull under the hammer, but a good deal of business was done after at recent rates. At Waituna more than twice the amount of stock came forward than was advertised consequently several hurdle pens had to be erected to receive the stock. Bidding was very dull though purchasers were there as was shown by the result, we having disposed of 85 pens of stock, nearly all the business being done after the sale. We must again remonstrate with the public for not advertising their stock it is unfair to themselves and us. In all these sales we had far more stock than advertised, ridiculously so at Feilding and Waituna, the result is not only does it affect the attendance but we have not sufficient accommodation ready for our clients and we have to conduct the sales with a smaller staff than we otherwise should do which comes very hard upon those who have to do it, in fact our Colonel Gorton who is always fit for a good deal of work was so com* pletely knocked up after the Waituna - sale that he was confined to his bed all the next day.
