The prices, though very low as compared with last year, were a good deal in advance of recent rates for old sheep. We held our annual sheep fair at Feilding yesterday, when over 9,000 were yarded, the majority of which were quitted under the hammer. The sale was very successful considering the times, there being a marked improvement all round, the bidding at times being fairly spirited. Old ewes and weedy lambs are still difficult of sale. Mr D. Downes* 2-tooth ewes again topped the market at 9s. The following are our quotations for yesterday's sale : — Best 2-tooth Lincoln ewes from 7s 3d to 9.-? ; medium, 4s 6d to ss; 2-tooth Romney ewes, 8s ; breeding ewes, 4s to ss ; Romney ewes, 6s Id ; old ewes, Is 6d to 2§ 6d ; good quality woolly lambs, 3s lid to 4s Id ; medium ditto, 3s 3d ; shorn lambs, Is 6d to 2s lid ; rams, os to £1 Is.
