A Steamer Driven by Coal Gas.
-. M.Capelle, of Havre, has introduc&ran iron steamer for river navigation, which is driven by coal gas. The"TJßir motor directly works the ■crew, and the gas is contained in a rweWoir on hoard. The first vessel of fh« kind, the Idee, is of 850 tons burthen, and has a gas engine of »l»out 40. horse power. She is in
tended for the rivet service from" Havre to Paris* afld Paris to Oreil. The gas costs only a little less as fuel than coal, but the" advantage lies in the fatit that the gas-engine requires much leas valuable room" than deal engines and furnaces.
