Hnere was bred in 1880 by Mr J. 0. loglis, the well known Victorian breeder, whose possession he remained up to time of sale. His site, Malua, won the Melbourne Australian and Adelaide Cups, Newmarket Handicap, and many weight for age races, as well as the Grand National Puidle Race. Malua's first son, Malvolio, won the Melbourne Cup. Haere's dam, Norna, by Conrad (imp ), out of Thalia (imp.^, 13 dam of Darriwell, another Melbourne Cup winner. In the Victorian show ring Ilaere took first prize at Balhtn and Myrniorg for 3 yeass beating Malua, Mentor, Calina, Enfilade mid other good horses.
