— * — I Mr L. Bergb, of the firm of Ashby, Bergh and Co., ironmongers, Christchurch, was drowned at Sumner at 7 a.m. on Monday, while bathing in the surf. He leaves a widow and a family of seven. W. B. Allwright, late Postmaster at Lyttelton, committed suicide at hiß residence on Sunday evening by catting his throat with a table knife. Peoeased retired on a pension about two years ago. ,He was 50 years of age. ■ All along the Auckland coast wreckage from the Wairarapa continues to be washed ashore, and on Saturday some pieces of decking were picked up inside the harbour. It is stated that the illfated vessel, with this exception of the ffia inmast from the hounds to the traotc, has entirely disappeared. Apparently the after portion has broken off and sunk in deep water, while the bows have opened out and are now aobmergedv " : . Messrs J. Goodall and E. T.
