New Zealand lamb is selling at an average of s£d, and Australian at 4£d. At a meeting of the shareholders of the Bank of South Australia (in liquidation), Mr Stewart, Official Receiver, stated that there were many damaging revelations in connection with the administration of the institution, and a further enquiry into the accounts of the Melbourne branch Was desirable. The meeting appointed an Inspection Committee of six, with Mr Stewart as liquidator. It is believed that a great strike of builders in London will take place in spring, owing to non Uniouists being employed. The Unionists have raised £50,« 000, and the masters are issuing notices of resistance. Counsel has advised that the shareholders in the Bank of New Zealand are unable to resist the call in accordance with the charter. The National Bank of New Zea~ land declare a dividend at the rate of 5 per cent per annum. Lord Randolph Churehill is improving, except for the paralysis. The Times strongly supports the proposal to appoint Mr Eddy president of the South Eastern Railway Company in preference to Sir George Russell, one of the directors, and Sir Myles Fenton, general manager.
