being Ithibttea by Bell, Hardy* and Ends, tha last named putting great Vigour into his strokes. The innings oloaed for 47. The Carnarvon Innings opened to the bowling of Bell and Hinchliffe, who quickly got tc work and had disposed of 4 batmen at the luncheon adjournment for a total of 21 runs. .During the ad- * journment the rain came down in torrents, and it was feared all further pliy .would have to be abandoned, bufc.after about an hour's very heavy raitt*wi6 weather cleared and play was resumed. The ground after the play wai- very slippery and the bowlers experienced great difficulty in holding the ball and keeping on their feet. Some pretty fast scoring was indulged in during the first two hours after the adjournment, but the fifth wicket fell with the score at 88 or only 9 runs behind the Foxton total; the 6th wicket falling for 41, and the 10th wicket fell for 48 runs, leaving Foxton winner of a hard fought game by 4 runs. Bell, besides bowling well distinguished himself in the field taking two splendid oatches. Bell's bowling average was as,tollow>;-r • 58 balls bowled ; 8 maiden overs ; 8 wickets ; 22 runs. ■Hinchliffe's average :- -80 balls bowled ; 8 maiden overs ; 5 wickets ; 14 runs. A word of thanks is due to the Carnarvon C.C. for the hospitable manner in which the Foxton cricketers were entertained and a hope that when next the teams meet they will be able to provide a better wicket for • the match.
