Frozen Mutton.
The Stock Department haa jtiit received from the Agent- General a copy of a notice which has been issued from the Imperial War Department, inviting tenders for the storage and supply of frozen mutton, for the use of Her Majesty's (forges at Malta and Gozo. The contract will be for a period of five years, and the tenders are to be delivered at the military head quarter offices, the Palace, Valetta, Malta, by noon of ■ " the Ist February next. " |p The conditions of the contraot ' stipulate for the supply of froaen' mutton from Australia or New Zealand, ihe mutton to be wether or ewe, not more than five years old, - well fed, good, sound, sweet and wholesome; carcases weighing less ' than 401b will net be taken. Ex-. eessively fat mutton will not be taken unless the contractor consents to remove all superfluous fat on the back and in the regions of the lcidi* v neys. According to clause 7, mutton for rations for the troops will not, without the consent ,of the, contractor, be demanded in greater propor- • tion than two-sevenths of the total
