Polo.

On Saturday afternoon a capital game of Polo was played at Orona Downs between the Rangitikei and Oroua Clubs. The Oroua Club were the challengers and being but a young olub hoped to make a good stand, but i never looked forward to the result i the game proved. A large number of visitors droft ' and rode out to view the contest, and were most hospitably received by Mrs McLennan, who had a marquee erected on the battle ground from which tea and light refreshment a were handed round. The ground was that nice pad"dock to the north of the entrance to ; the homestead, pleasantly sheltered ; by trees on three sides. - The teams were invited to lunch prior to the commencement of the game. The teams were as follows : — Rangitikei— Messrs Bill (captain), Keillers (2) and A. Wilson. Oboua —Messrs J. McLennan (captain), • O. Robinson, B. Gower and A. Strang. Mr W. Strang acted as umpire. The play was marked, on the • Oroua side, by a determination to score, if possible, and the team , deserve every credit for the work they did. Mr Gower made himself conspicuous by his dash and strength and the hits he made provoked the surprise of his opponents. Mr . Robinson, aB will be seen, also did yeoman's service. The score* obtained were, Q. Robinson 2 goals, B. Gower 1, and A. Strang 1 for the Oroua and A. Wilson 1 goal for the. Bangitilwi'*, „ Thus the Oroua won. the game by 4to i. . .. ....,;..
