A Good Idea.
, — » The Municipal authorities of a town near Paris have hit upon an idea which deserves wide publicity. The poor box at the Mairie having been for some time in a state of chronic emptiness, a parrot was purchased, trained to cry " For the poor, if you please 1" and installed on a perch close to the poor box. The result is said to have been most satisfactory, the pence having flowed fraely into the box in response to the bird's appeals.
