The Speaker took the chair at 2.80 p.m. *••■•' w Mr Saunders resumed the financial debate, and opposed the Budget as he considered it a departure from the policy laid down by Mr Ballance. Messrs Fraser and Duncan supported the Budget proposals. ' Mr Duthie made a very strong adverse criticism on the finance of the Government. Messrs G. Russell, Lang and Willis spoke in favour of the proposals and Mr Massey in favour of the cheap money idea but opposed the borrowing policy. The debate was adjourned on the motion of Mr Lawry. The House adjourned at 12.85 a.m.
