A Bill has been introduced in Congress to prevent Anarchists immigrating to the States. Two French officers who were attending the Piedmont military manoeuvres, have been arrested owing to being in possession of plans showing the situation of the forts. Santo had been sentenced to death. The evidence of the police at Santo's trial showed that the President, before he fell insensible, withdrew the poniard from his wound, and threw it in the street. Santo, at the moment when he inflicted the -wound,, tooled M. Carnot straight in the $crf arfiestly, botdifrnot speak. Santo ieels no remorse. In his evidence he boasted that it would be easy to kill the King of Italy in a similar manner to which President Garnot met his death. j~- The jury were not unanimous in [ the Sentence passed on the assassin. The Court suppressed Santo's speech to the jury, otherwise the case was reported fully. Santo has refused to appeal against his sentence. ■ 't^jomh covered with Anarchist placards threatening to murder the President of the Court which tried Santo.
