In the evening the Financial Debate was resumed. The Colonial Treasurer took the opportunity of replying to various criticisms that had appeared outside the House. Mr Mitchelson followed with a strong protest against tho Budget— 11 the most extraordinary ever produced." Mr Tanner thought it contained a bold and comprehensive policy. sSir Robert Stout declared that without borrowing the year would have been ended with a deficit. The policy of the Budget meant nothing but borrowing.
