Dairy Meeting.
On Saturday afternoon Mr H. Roberts, of the N.Z. Dairy Farmer's Union, visited Foxton to meet the owners of dairy cows so as to discuss the establishment of a factory or creamery in the district. Hennessy was voted to the chair. Among those present were Messrs Whibley, Carter Bros., Hughes, Satherley, Bowe, Symonu and King, representing owners of dairy cows, and townspeople. Mr Roberts very clearly explained the benefits of joining the Union, and pointed out if the necessary shares (some 200). and the required number of cows (250) were promised before the end oi the month, a creamery could be ereoted and in working order by the first of Sep tember. The Union would ercofc buildioga and place a plant valued . at £450. It was proposed and carried that | Mes3rs Hughes, Hennessy, and W. Purcell be appointed a committee to [ canvas for shares and cows.
A vote of thanks to Mr Roberts and the chair brought a very satisfactory meeting to an end. In the room 100 shares were subscribed for and 150 cows proraised.
Since then there have been an additional 40 shares taken up and 100 more cows promised, so that to ensure immediate action only another 60 shares are needed.
