* — Parliament was opened oil Thursday afternoon by iourComrrtissloflers; The Speaker of the Couh'c'il Informed the members that the Governor would attend the following afternoon. On returning to the House the members were sworn in, and after that business was concluded Mr Saunders proposed and Mr W. Kelly seconded the motion " That Sir G. M. O'Rorke take the chair as Speaker." Mr Hall- Jones proposed Major Steward as Speaker and Mr Earnshatf seconded the proposition; For the motion there were 4(j, against it 19. Sir G. M. O'Rorte was therefore duly elected Speeker. The House then adjourned.
