The Panama Canal.

A general meeting of Panama shareholder? was held in April at the Fivoli-Vaux Hall, when over 1,800 persons were present. M. Georges Thieband was elected president. After two hours discussion during which the idea was suggested of forming a syndicate of bondholders and a company with a capital of 60,00(M)00fi\, for completing the canal, the following vote was carried unanimously: — That this gathering of Panama bondholders, assembled at Fivoli-Vaux Hall this day of April, 1894, and representing 720,---000 bonds, confides to a syndicate of five persons the formation of a new company for completing the canal, and with that object gives it full power of making arrangements with the liquidator as well as with the official representatives of the bondW holders, and holds itself responsible for an initial subscription of 20,000,OOOfr., which will be subscribed by all the existing committees in proportion.
