Foxton Borough Council.

■ # . A special meeting of the above was held at the Library Buildings last night at 7.30. Present— The Mayor (T. P. Williams), Crs McMillan, Austin, Hamer, Bradoock, aad Jenks. Ths following motions were carried : — Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Jenks — That on account of the difference of opinion that has arisen between the Auditor-General and various Councils with reference to the legal construction and bearing of Section 88 of " The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886," as concerns the question of contracts between the Council and any individual Councillor, this Council would ask the Government to assure by the Legislature the power to limit contracts to individual Councillors, and request our member, Mr J. G. Wilson, to move ia the matter, and that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Municipal Association of New Zealand, Wellington, asking thuir I support. ■* I Proposed by Cr Av.-si.rn, seconded by Cr McMillan, That this Council loave hi the hands of the Manawalu Couuty Council j matters referred to in Mr J. Wright j Stewart's letter, r- sale of Sandon and Carnarvon Tramway, and will be plea«ed

to endorse their actions respecting same. Proposed by Cr Bradcock, seconded by Cr Jenks— That His Worship the Mayor be appointed to represent this Council at the Municipal Association meeting, to be held in Wellington, and that the expenses of same be defrayed out of the Borough funds. t Proposed by Cr Hamer, seconded by Cr Jenks— That the next monthly meeting of this Council be held on Monday, the Uth of July, at 7.80 p.m.
