Pollock for section No. 11, Carnarvon Township. ; From Town Clerk, Foxton, re adjournment of meeting concerning bridges. From same, re h° l "su growing on road line on the eastern side of Foxton. From siinir, notifying that £18 7s had been paid into the bank, boing council's interest for one year on the inscribed loan. From same, with request for valuation of County and of Awahou riding. From chairman Stratford County Council, re price of construction, management*"and working of tram. From J. Wright Stewart r re proposejlC junction railway, and asking the CouncUL. to enter into an agreement with reference, to granting all rights to construct the line.' From the Treasury, advising that the* - sum of £1,500 amount of loan for the can. , struction of the Foxton-Shannon road, had been remitted to the credit account of the Council. > ... From Railway Department, agreeing to the Council's working U/ ballast tram from Carnarvon to Foxton on certain conditions specified. From the Government stores manager, re tricycle, and stating the cost would "be £15. Messrs C. Bull, Jennings and "Whisker waited on the Council with a request that the Council should assist the settlers in strengthening thfrprotective works in the Oroua river. They had done something'in the way of protecting the river, but 4he recent flood had damaged the works, and it will be necessary to drive some SO or 40 more piles to make the improvements effective. After some discussion the Council con. sidered that the state of their finances did not warrant their making a grant, towards the proposed work, but it was proposed by Cr Wilson, seconded by Cr Ransom, " That if the settlers affected are prepared to raise a loan to make protective work and maintain it against the Oroua river the Council will assist the settlers by raising a loan under the Government Loans to Local Bodies Act if they can legally do so. A special meeting of the Council was held to pass the following resolution : — Proposed by Cr Ransom, seconded by Cr Hammond, that a special order lie now made as follows: "That a special rate of jj of a penny in the £ be made npoiv ihe\ rateable value of iill the latoahle proD^jrty^/ within town of Campbell special rating district, being part of Cniupbelltown riding, Mivnuwatu County, for the purpose of payiug interest and sinking fund on a loan " of £200 to be raised under the Government' - Loan to Local Bodies Act INB9, and amend- j nient, such rate to be an annually recurring rate for 20 years payable in one sum tin : April Ist in each year.''— Carried, Proposed by Cr'Mastsrs, seconded hy Cr Wilson, " That the Clerk make fresh applications for a loan for McDonell special district of £200 in terms of letter received from the Secretary of the Treasury." Carried. Proposed by Cr Ransom, seconded by <Jr Hammond, " That the Clerk be instructed to give the required information re workiug of tram line to Chairman of Stratford County Council." — Carried. Proposed by Cr Wilson, seconded by Cr Hansom, That a special meeting be held on July 11th for the purpose of making a Special Order ro bye-laws to regulate the traffic on the roada in the county. — Carried. Proposed by Cr Wilson, seconded by Cr Robinson, That a committee consisting of the Chairman, Cry Hammond and Masters ho appointed to draw up by laws to regulate tbo traffic on the roads, and to license vehicles plying foi' hire in the County, to meet on Thursday, 28th, at 2 o'clock. — Carried. Proposed by Cr Wilson, seconded by Cr Hammond, That immediate steps be taken to alter the Awahuri bridge on the FeildingAwahuvi road in accordance with the report of the cha ; rman. — Carried. Proposed by Cr Strung, seconded by Cr Robinson, That the report on Frecklington'a line by Cr Musters bo tided upon.— CttVrled. Revolved, That Cr« Hammond and Masters tiign the rate book. - Resolved, That the overseer attend to the repairs where required on the big drain road. Proposed by Cr Strung, seconded by Cr MttHtern, That Cr Wilson act as delegate to the conference of Comity Councils to be held in Wellington.— Carried. Proposed by Cr llobinson, seconded by Cr Strung, That the tender of M. Boyle at Ms, on Pyke's road be accepted. — Carried. Proposed by Cr Masters, seconded by Cr Strung, That the Munawutu Road Board be written to asking them to lower the cutting ; thereby ease the grade to the river thin side, and make the necessary provision for a ford. — Carried. Proposed by Cr Wilson, seconded by Cr Strung, That any owners of drays carrying heavy loads on narrow tires be warned that they will be held liable for any damage done to the road. — Carried. Proposed by Cr Wilson, seconded by Cr MasterH, That a notice be erected at Whisker's bridge, on tho Feilding-Awahuri road, notifying that the bridge is not safe for traffic of more than two tons. — Carried.
