CORRESPONDENCE.
» Wt ire not responsible for the statements or opinions of correspondents. TO THE, EDITOR OP THE MANAWATU HEBALD. Dsab Sib,— lt may not be generally known that we have living in Foxton a jfcraon who has been in the habit of holding spiritualistic seances. This particular party seems to be a pretty constant attender at the " Chapel of many servioes," and also was a great agitator for the introduotion of Bible Reading into public sohotls, daring the late general election. .Outlooal medium held a stance a short time ago, to which several townspeople were invited, mostly composed ofweakopinded, curious women. The lights were turned low in the orthodox fashion, and a lively time ensued, any amount of spirits present, the medium frothing at the gouth, and the company bordering on ■~~t -Myfterici, one' lady having to be brought round by a good application of cold water. I tant'tmfr the person in whose house this leance took place has been enlightened, as to the folly of conversing with the spirits of thtdead, and will not allow any further exhibition of such rot in his house. Surely Sir, the practising of palmistry, fortune telling, and spiritualism are antagonistic to the teachings of any Christian church, and any person who professes to believe in the tMobingß of a Christian (?) body and at the same time practices these arts must be about as " red hot " as they are made. I would suggest that this person and the one who exercised such a Urge amount of ••'Christian charity" and forethought during the late poisoniug case should run in dMblft harness and hold forth in our high- . t . w«ya about the terrible fate awaiting those . penonewho do not get saved like themielvas. ♦• Do unto othsrs as ye would that they should do unto you " is a doctrine largely preached, but seldom practised by these, •specially if there is any fear of it costing them anything. Yours, etc., ' .: Anti-Humbug.
