An Unpleasant Find.

As a party of horsemen were taking a ride down the beach south of the river early this week, they found a coffin open with a skeleton inside. They reported the matter to Constable Gillespie who proceeded to in- . vestigate. He found the remains as . stated about three miles below the river. The skeleton had evidently been intered a long time as the bones were rotten. The coffin appeared to have been made out of white pine, which was also rotten, securely nailed with old fashioned three inch iron nails. The constable is of the opinion it is probably the body of . some one bast up drowned and been buried in the sandhills close to the beach. . He judges that possibly it may have occurred some fifty ytars ' ago. It is possible to give some clue to the remains as around the neck was found a good yellow silk band kerchief, in excellent state of repair, tied in a sailor's knot. In the midde of the coffin was found a leather belt, and the feet had been coyeredrwitb a good pair of high lncjijjip boots. The matter was reposed $o the Coroner but he did not think an inquest would be likely to throw much light as to how the deceased came by his death. It is ." pocurißre &> surmise many things, and the publication of the find may lead to ft satisfactory, explanation.
