Another Hospital Wanted !

At the meeting of the Eforowhepua 'County Cquncil an Monday, Cr . parley 'referred to the large amount by the County for hospital and obaritable aid purposes. He said a suggestion had been made by the Premier during a visit to Manukau that a hospital should be established in the Horowhenua County, and he (Cr Hurley) saw no reason why it should not be carried into effect, especially when the district received such little benefit in proportion to the amount paid towards the Wellington institution. — The Chairman pointed out that even if the residents of the County were desirous of establishing a hospital, Government would not sanction it, and be did not think there was the slightest chance of getting an Act of Parlia~ inent passed creating tbat district a special hospital district. He could only characterise the Premier's utterances in reference to this matter as clap trap, and that gentleman knew it. Mr Wilson, M.H.R., bad 'informed him when he was iutro;ducing the Bill in connection with the Palmerston hospital district that if he had included the Horowhenua County the Bill would have been opby the Wellington members. •«~Cr Venn said the residents of the Horowhenua County were averse to being taoked'on to the Palmerstun district, especially when they had a better institution for their p"atiints in Wellington -^Cr Hurley thought there would be no .barm in investi gating the matter to ascertain what benefit the hospital would be to the district.-— Times.
