The Bishop of Manchester On Appointments to Livings.

0 ■■■'■■ The Bishop of Manchester at a meeting held at Bury, Lancashire, on 20th March last stated be was in favor of having Church Councils with the power of vetoing any appointment to a living. He said that they could not take the power of nomination from the bands of certain persons, but if these patrons nominated persons who were utterly out of sympathy and harmony with the people to whom they were sent, then a certain power of veto should rest in the legal representation of the congregation or the Church Counoil, We think a similar power should be given in the Anglican Church in New Zealand. No congregation should be compelled to accept any minister whom the Bishop ohoaes to appoint.
