The late Bishop and Mrs Hill.

♦ The late Bishop, who was so well known in New Zealand, and whose sudden death is so much regretted, was seized with fever at Lagos, Africa, his wife being attacked a few hours later. They were ill for little more than four days. At times they suffered " terrible agony," and the Bishop's delirium was terrible to witness. On the day before his death, the Bishop said, after lying for some time in a partially comatose state, " I am going home." Mrs Hill, who was lying on a bed near the one oa which the Bishop lay, at once replied, " Yes, we are going home." But unconsciousness quickly supervened, and the Bishop passed away without leaving any directions or expressing any desires. Mrs Hill knew nothing of her husband's death, and only survived him eight hours. The body of the Bishop was robed in his rochet by Bishop Phillips.
