Thursday 19th. Doubles— Second Series. Mr Robinson and Miss Austin, scr., beat Mr Little and Miss Wbyte, $-15 x £ bisque. As was expected this proved a very close contest especially in the first two sets. Mr Robinson's swift service and sharp returns with Miss Austin's steady back play was howivev not to be denied, and bore down all opposition in the third set. Miss Whyt« for the losers played a good game, also Mr Little at the net, though the service of the latter was much under his usual form. Result, sets, 6—4, 4—6, 6—2. Games, 16—12. Points, 93— 91. Friday 20th. Dr Dermer and Mrs Dermer, scr., beat Mr Hickson and Mrs Mellisb, $-80 x i bisque. This was also an exceedingly close contest as shown by the number of points Bcored 78 to 77. The number of bisques conced«d, 2 in the first and third sets and 3 in the second, adding an exciting element of uncertainty, Play was fair but not by any means brilliant, the service of the winners being much " softer " than usual. Result, sets, 6 — 4, C—6. Games, 12—9. Points, 78— 77.
