Mr- Gladstone, in a letter to Mr John Cowan, chairman of his Mid- ' lothian Committee, virtually bids a stately and pathetic tarewell to his constituents, and warns the Democracy that they are entering on a period of great moral danger, aud had better beware of temptations.
