Sudden Death of Mr Frederick Ireland.
« A sensation was caused on Sunday when it became known that Mr Frederick Ireland had died suddenly at the Commercial Hotel, where he had been staying for some considerable time past. On Saturday night the deceased gentleman had gone to bed at his usual hour, and was very restless during the night. Shortly before nine o'clock yesterday morning Mrs Ireland had risen, and a few minutes afterwards her attention was attracted by a noise, which was found to be caused by Mr Ireland falling on the floor from the bed. Assistance was quickly at hand, and Dr Wilson sent for, but the deceased gentleman gave no sign of life, and appears to have died almost in« stantaneously. Dr Wilson had been attending him for some time for an affection of the heart, and the doctor deems it unnecessary to hold an inquest, having given a certificate to the effect that deaih was due to heart disease. The deceased gentleman, who some three years ago established the now well-known and highly reputable firm of Ireland & Co. in Palmerston, was for many years a leading business man in Auckland, where he carried on in partnership with his brother, also deceased, a very large tannery and fellmongery business. He leaves a widow and large family, who resided at Auckland, where his body will be taken for burial. The age of the deceased geutlemen was 61. — Standard.
