An Unhappy Resident.

Some one in Foxton, "full up" of a show in which his talents were not utilised, has addressed the tollowing letter, which is sufficiently explanatory of his reasons for perm ing it, to our Shannon contemporary : —

Sib, — We have got Pinafore on the brain here and lam inclined to think that the amateurs would be glad to play it in the townships all along the Wellington • Manawata Railway Line. It ia quite a new play, and has never been presented to the public in any part of the globe as by the amateurs of Foxton You must have noticed that our local Hebald has printed columns of nice things about it, and we are thinking of getting all the critiquee printed in a little book in the hope that some impressario will engage the whole company of performers and take them throughout the colony. It is a pity that these amateurs cannot appear before the lunatics in our asylumsduring the moonlight night?. You niay think I am joking, but I speak seriously when I say that I would be glad to see the Pinafore embark in the s.s. Queen of the Soiuh and stay away till winter sets in. It i» Pinafore in the bar of the pubs ; Pinafore in the Church ; Pinafore at home and Pinafore abroad ; the paper crowds out all other news to pay something pretty abou 1 ; Pinafore. The company have ju«t played Pinafore at Keilding, and this morning I was horrified to find another d >si> in i he Pmat re H-rnld. The play is a new on.', as I have reniiulud. but, we are really getting too much of it. Yours, &c, FuLii Up. Foxton, March 17.
