_, y. The usual monthly meeting of the above Council was held afc the Library buildings yesterday at £ p.m. Present— The Mayor (T. P. -Williams);* Crs Jenks, McPherson, Austin land McMillan. Dudson, complaining of rate of rent for mill site, and asked for reduction. G. Nye, offering land for road for £12. -. RESOLUTIONS. The following resolutions were passed: — Proposed by Cr Jenks, seconded by Cr McMillan, That leave of absence be granted to Cr Bradcock for this meeting. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Austin, That all previous motions having any reference to purchasing of part section 378 be l'ttscinded. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Austin, That Mr George Nye]s offer be accepted and that this Council purchase the land offered for £12. Cr McMillan protested against the purchase. He said that Mr Nye had promised to leave the value to be paid in the Councillors hands. Oh the motion being put a division was called and the Council dividedAyes : The Mayor, Crs Jenks, McPherson and Austin. Noes : Cr McMillan. The resolution was therefore declared carried. TENDERS. The following tenders were then opeued : — For Carting— C. Spring, 8s; H. • Coley, 8s 6d ; G. Coley, 8s 8d ; M. Spelman, 8s 9d ; J. Anderson, 8s 9d. Drains— No 1 : H. Webb, Is 2d per chain ; C. Adin, Is 9d ; W. Parlane, 6s. No. 2 : John Jacobs, ll£d I per chain ; P. Guerin, Is Bd. Ferry-honse — George Watson, 4s a week. Ferry - E. Piggott, £50 new rate, £95 old rate; i. Hillary, £41 103 new rate £72 10s old rate ; T. Bowe, £40 new rate £70 old rate. Proposed by Cr Jenks, seconded by the Mayor, That the tender of J. Jacobs for cleaning out No. 2 drain j be accepted at ll£d per chain. 1 Proposed by Cr McMil an, seconded by Cr Austin, That the tender of C. Spring be accepted at 8s a day for ensuing year. v . Proposed by Cr Austin, seconded by Cr McPherson, That George Watson's tender of 4s per week be accepted for rent of ferry house for one year.
