Several persons are being tried in Sicily for strangling and burying alive inmates of the Modica Orphanage. They are also charged with robbing the institution of funds contributed for its maintenance. Particulars have reached Moscow of a reported skirmish between the German and Russian soldiers on the frontier. It appears that a squadron of Russian dragoons, noticing a number of Prussian Uhlans firing at a frontier post bearing the Imperial arms, called on the party to desist. Receiving a reply in the negative, the Russians formed up and attacked the Uhlans, driving them back, and pursuing them across the frontier into German territory. Several men on both sides are reported to have been killed. In the Chamber of Deputies, Signor Oispi explained that the recent Anarchist conspiracy in Sicily was the outcome of the deliberations of a revolutionary society which could command the support of 800,000 men. A rising had been arranged to take place about the middle of February, and the conspirators relied on war occurring during the year through the help of Russia, to which nation they intended to cede the principle ports. Signor Crispi's statement has created a great sensation tbroflghout the country. ' ■• ,-.„
