Foxton Borough Council.
A special meeting of the above Council was held at the Library buildings yesterday ai 2 p.m., to accept tenders and to consider the tolls on the Wirikino ferry. Present -The Mayor (T. P. Williams), Crs Jenks, Hamer, McPherson, and McMillan. The following tenders for getting 160 yards metal were opened : — Dudson Bros, Is 10£ d per yard ; John Anderson, 2slld;.T. Newth, 2s 3d ; John Stewart, 2s lid ; H. Coley, 2s ss&. Proposed by Cr Williams, seconded by Cr Jenks, That Dudson 8r03.' tender be accepted at Is 10 Jd per yard. — Carried. The Council went into committee on the reduction of tolls on the Wirikino ferry. On resuming the ordinary sitting it was reported that Cr McMillan proposed, and Or Hamer seconded, That the tolls at the Wirikino ferry be reduced, — Carried. That Cr Williams proposed, Cr Jenks seconded, That tenders be called for leasing the Wirikino ferry in two separate tenders at the old rate of toll and a reduced one. — Carried.
