FUNNY LIBERALISM.

TO THSBDIXOB OF IB HAMAWATW MSBitB.

Sib, - 1 am not awart on which side of politics you were during the last election, but I haw coma to the exclusion after nearly half a centnry's experience that the funny thing about Liberal Governments is their number of small dodges. They generally get into office by one of three way, or by all three together. The first method is to pretend to be revolutionary, and so enlist all the discontents on their side. It is ludicrous to see fat wealthy I liberals attack the rights of property on the public platform but which they mean to defend in the House. The second method is to buy all the people's votes in any way they can. This was pretty apparent at the recent elections, copying what was done in England at the general elections, when the Liberal Government bought the Irish vote. The third method is by humbugging the tee tntalora. Ido not know why total abstinence from alcoholic liquors should be a marked growth of the organ of credulity but such is undoubtedly the cuse. Teetotalors have bfinre returned to Parliament men who have been manufacturers of wine* and owners of hotels and then have been mightily surprised and indignant to find that they were not really mad on the question of Local Option and did not seriously intend to destroy the trade. — I am Ac,

RIMOUMVON.
