Who would be without children, once having known the incomparable happiness of their society. They have all your virtues and none of your vicei— you can look into their eyes and see yourself as you were once so long ago — you can feel for them that affection and pride and fear so strangely mingled which only the father can feel, and a merciful Fate does not draw the veil to show you them a few years older when they are no longar children but men and women, inheriting all your faults.
