Foxton Racing Club.

An advertisement iii another column announces the date for the sale of the privileges in connection with the above Club's Summer Meeting on the 22nd of January. The meeting grows yearly in popularity and in the attendance of the public, the date being a general holiday, and as a rule we are favored with tine weather, there having been only one wet day during the whole of the series of meetings held. What has happened before we may fairly hope may happen again, and a beautiful day add pleasure to the racing. The nominations received were 103, being the largest number yot recorded, and proves that the fixture is thoroughly well known. The weights are declared and are such as should induce good acceptances, and when there are good fields people follow.

The Secretary and Committee have worked hard to make the course better than ever and with marked success. The alteration of the totalisator stand, the enlargement of the grand stand enclosure, and the new and neat fencing have been improvements needed and will be appreciated. The course is now all fenced round, and we hear of other additions to the lawn which will make it very attractive to visit* ors. We know that no stone will be left unturned, if such an operation is needed, to make the meeting on Anniversary Day the meeting of the Club.

Investors have nothing to fear in embarking their capital in the purchase of these privileges, and a thoroughly " good thing " is to be had foi\a very little speculation. It will be noticed that the sale is very properly entrusted to Mr j. R. McMilan, our new auctioneer, and the honorary secretary of the Club, and we should like to see the sale go off with a " boom " as a pleasant and auspicious start..
