(from our own correspondent ) thf cremation of benvtt malon. The iuneral of Benvit Malon, Socialist historian, economic critic, and former member of the Commune, wa» very imposing and important. At his own request the remains of Malon were cremated at Pere Lachaise and some ten thousand pergogs assembled at the obsequies. Malon's .worldwide repute as an advanced v writer of the best type — refined, cultured, and temperate— was attested by the discourses delivered* at the cemetery by men of nationalities as varied as their social station^ as v well as by the general respectability of the crowd and. the presence 6t a large student element therein.' At the Place Ilidhy'lt was joined by a procession of close upon a 'thousand persons, an<T <m " VoiM^tip, the^ cemetery the crowdjcontinued to increase, until at the entrance to Pere Lachaise it was of very considerable proportions . On arrival at the central avenue about two score red flags and the green bannerette of the Sailors' Society were unfurled amid loud cries of " Vire 1* International," "Vire la Commune." Slowly the procession passed on to the Orematoire, where the flags were displayed, and despite a heavy downpour speeches were made from the a tegs for about an hour. Amongst thogft present were several English, Gemwov^andt Italian Socialists, and revolutionaries from various other countries. Of the orators who spoke Clovis Hugues, the poet deputy was most popular. He recited a rhythmic composed by himself. Other speeches and a number of Freemasons were listened to with much attention, and the crowd at the close of Jhe speaking proceeded en masse to the " wall of the Federal*," where eheerrwerrgiven for •• the heroes of the Commune^
