Foxton Borough Council.

The adjourned special meeting of the above Council wag held on Monday afternoon at the Library buildings. Present — The Mayor (Or. Nye), Crs Williams, Jenks, Hamer, McPherson, Austin and Bradcock. The following tenders were opened

Cr Austin proposed and the Mayor seconded, That the tender of $hos. G'Odk at 4s per cubic yard be accepted. — Carried . Proposed by the Mayor, oeconded by Cr McPherson.. That, notice . be given that all outstanding rates not paid on or before the 81st December, 1803, will be sited for without further notice. — Carried. The water question held overj from last week wa3 again brought up for consideration. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Austin, That after due consideration it is thought best to dispense with the pump and lead the water down the side of the creek with an inch and a half pipe for a distance of 11 or 12 chains, then bring the pipe to the surface so as the water will flow by gravitation so as to save the labour of pumping. The Mayor gave the same explarr nation as we gave in the last report. Cr Williams favoured Cr Jenks' proposal of a putnp and cask. Cr Hamer believed that the question had been settled at the meeting, when a pump was ordered. Cr Austin supported the resolution. He expected the water system would have to be carried out very shortly. He fully expected a pump would soon be broken. Cr Jenks said he would support the pump scheme. Cr McPherson said he would be in favor of the pipe,' ■ •• ; :: Q \ The Mayor said it was of course no consequence to him which plan was adopted.
