The Payne Family.

Last night this popular company ■hiet a packed house, and pleased -their hearers right through the two hours entertainment. Last night's performance makes the third time of the family visiting Foxton, and as Mr Steele pointed out, the gathering showed that they had always left a good impression. The programme was listened to with that courteous silence which was asked for by the manager/ but at the conclusion of each item a loud outburst of applause occurred. Every item was encored, but not always responded to. The bells seemed, if possible, to be the most admired, and to those who have .attended the family's concerts previously, there is no doubt that the artistes have made a very marked advance. Since the Payne family were last here, two young ladies, the Misses Bella Handricks and Elfie Morella have joined them. Both ladiesvajFe soprano singers and Miss Handricjqivis ..also , a clever violinist and pianist*. It was. plea.

sant to notice how highly their contributions to the entertainment were received. The Payne family still keep their hold upon the public, and in spite of necessary changes in the personnel of the performers, seem to improve on each visit. We can promise them a hearty welcome when next they visit us.
