Flax Notes.
* Oar hemp-millers will be pleased to learn that the amended rates on hemp, agreed to by the Wellington Harbonr Board, came into operation at the commencement of the month. The charges are now, for storage two-pence per bale instead of threepence, and if hemp be received after one o'clock p.m. on any day the charge shall cover two nights free storage ; dumping has been reduced from one shilling and nine pence to one shilling and sixpence ; opening and re-baling has been fixed at one shilling and nine pence instead of two shillings. * «■ #■'--■ The value of flax, from quotations received from Boston by the Herripmillers Association is anything bnt encouraging, only £15 7s Od is offered ! Yet in spite of this we are 1 glad to see millers determining to open their mills. Messrs Hopkirk commenced work, last week, and the Messrs Dudson, purpose starting both their mills, on Monday. We believe Mr Rutherford will also start his second mill .on Mondn y. * • «
