Wool Market.

Messrs Murray, Roberts and Co., received on Monday the following cable message from their London friends, Messrs Sanderson, Murphy and Co., regarding the wool sales : — London, 7th October — Sales have closed firm, prices being a shade over opening rates ; 80,000 bales held over. The New Zealand • Land Association (Limited) have received from its London office the following message by cable, dated 6th inst : Frozen meats — The mutton market is quiet, and the lamb market slugglish. Quotations are unchanged since last telegram. Tallow — tine mutton and good beef tallows are worth respectively 293 9d and 2rts 8d per cwt. Wool— The sales closed firmly this day. Since the close of laat sales the following variations in prices have to be recorded : — Scoured merino, medium and inferior, and medium greasy crossbred, are to Id per lb higher ; fine greasy crossbred, fine washed crossbred fine scoured crossbred, medium washed crossbred, medium scoured crossbred, coarse greasy crossbred, coaise washed crossbred, coarse scoured crossbred, are A per lb higher ; greasy merino, medium and inferior, are par to |d per lb higher ; greasy merino super, washed merino super, and washed merino medium and inferior, are to Id per lb lower. Other descriptions are un changed. There is no American demand. The total quantity sold during the last sales is 184,000 bales, of which 60,000 have been taken for export, and it is estimated that 85,000 bales have boon held over for future disposal.
