The first match of the season was played on Tuesday afternoon in' , Mr Stansell's paddock, and was honoured by the presence of quite' a consider--able crowd of interested on-lookers. The form exhibited by most . of 'the players was not very brilliant] ; at the beginning of the season batsmen are generally a bit rusty. Messrs Betty and Young, however, ran up their respective scores of 19 and 14 by a rattling display of good sound cricket, while J. Dudson, the 'club Captain, by his carefully compiled 12 showed that " his right hand has I not forgot its cunning." ■* The game was played by " scratch "sides selected on the field and captained respectively by H.
